This being the 4th book in the series, I really didn’t know what to expect. Especially with how the 3rd book ended because I just felt like that was finally the end of what Abby was going through. Of course I knew at the time that there are 13 books in the series, so I know there’s so much more to come with this series. The book starts with Abby trying to get her life back together. I feel so bad for her because of everything that she has been through and we are reminded just how much when we find out she hasn’t slept through the night since she left the island from the last book. Poor girl, she’s doing the best she can, but with not sleeping she was on the verge of having a mental breakdown. You cant help but feel sympathetic for her.
I was really hoping that Abby would finally be able to get her life back on track now that the worst parts were behind her. In my head that looked something like what her life was before the accident that left her dead for 44 minutes. But Sinclair and Abby gave us something so much better. She found her place in this “new world” she was in and learned to embrace her gifts. It was so amazing to see that!
There was a short return of Jesse and every time he makes an appearance, my heart just breaks a little more for him. But I’m always so glad to see him come back.
What I enjoyed most about this book was that it took on a very series turn of events which I really was not expecting. Not that the rest of the books didn’t have some heavy stuff, this book just took on some different things. For instance, this book deals with the death of a 12 year old boy that was murdered and Abby starts to see his ghost for some reason. I didn’t know what to expect from it, but Sinclair did a good job linking this with other events in the book. It also dealt with a school bombing and mental illness (kind of). This event was extremely sad when it all played out.
This book was definitely a revival for me. I have enjoyed all of the books in the series so far, but this one was on the same level as book 1. Of course, book 1 is what got me so invested in the story. I cant wait to see what book 5 holds for Abby!

I found the 44 series via the top 100 free kindle book list. I enjoy series books I was thrilled to find books 1-5 free.
No spoilers!
I enjoyed the development of the characters the on going action the wonderful story that draws the reader in and keeps u fully engaged till the end!
I highly recommend this book!
I usually do not read paranormal stories but after getting 44 book 1 for free I was hooked. Sinclair brings her characters to life in her wirtting. I almost feel like I know Abby, Kate, Ty & Jesse personally.
In book 4 Abby deals with another sinister evil that is connected wirh a co-worker. She is in a race aganist time. I am so glad that I got the first 4 books and very excited that book 5 will be coming out soon.
And another 4! Ok enough nonsense with my rating system, this series really is Good, even for an old Nonni, fast read, good pace.
Cheap & entertaining. Always a subtle little twist near the end of the book.
I really enjoy this series. The books are short, but packed with so much. Suspense, romance, mystery and a beautiful picture of Bend, OR. This series is a paranormal type story, which is totally NOT my genre, but the little hint of romance is great and this particular book reminded me of an episode of "Medium". I loved that TV show and that is what this series is like for me. I'm so attached to the main character Abby that I have to keep reading to see what is next for her.
Considering the events of book three, I expected Abby's return home and future to be filled with far more uncertainty and trauma, more so than just nightmares. Instead she seems to be grounding herself in a place where her life ended, renewed, and where she found herself a target. Even Kate, who had always seemed more of a go-getter seems dulled out, planting roots in the same location, which seemed odd, even if explained by worry. Not that it was a bad read, as always, Jools Sinclair delivered a lovely story, but I felt book four should have had more spark, more intensity, just a little bit more for the reader to really wow about and I didn't find it in this 'chapter' of Abby's story. I do look forward to book five!
It took me awhile to get into the book, but I suppose that's because I had to wait awhile in order to purchase it. The time lapse between reading book three and four messed me up a bit, but once I got into the book I went from being 27% finished to completely finished in the matter of hours. I continue to love this series and look forward to reading more.
I loved reading about the relationship between Abby and her coworkers. Her and Ty's relationship was sweet enough without making me want to vomit. It's also nice to see them struggling in certain areas...makes it more real.
